Kelp Tableware
Tableware that I designed for Milan Design Week and Steinbeisser Experimental Gastronomy. These handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces urge us to re-think how we engage with the natural world. They use fresh kelp that I collected and treated, made into yarn, and woven into cloth — their undulated form inspired by the creatures that live in a kelp forest. The Tablecloth emulates the enormous kelp leaf, and the vessels are the spiny sea urchins. The varied processes employed are cyclical in the making and their return to earth.
